Flange guards (called also "flange covers" or "safety spray shields") are designed to reduce the harmful consequences of accidental breakage of the gasket which can cause a sudden leak, generating a jet with high kinetic energy that can be projected up to a few tens of meters from the source and cause damage to people and/or things.
